Tomorrow’s guest has one of the coolest jobs I’ve ever heard of. Randall Poster is the guy who picks out music in commercials (like the one above) as well as all of Wes Anderson’s movies. He’s also worked with Martin Scorsese, Todd Haynes, David Fincher, Pepsi, Coke, Target, and others. He’ll tell us what it’s like to be a music supervisor.

I need this job

The character was only referred to as ‘Scott.’ So I thought, okay, this guy Scott is in a scene with a character called Ernest and a character named Zelda. Is Woody Allen writing a movie about F. Scott Fitzgerald? But there was this other character called Gil, and I couldn’t figure out who Gil was!

I showed up on the set the first day, doing rehearsals and camera tests and I asked Owen [Wilson], and I swear this is the God’s honest truth, I had to ask him who exactly Gil was. He said, ‘Oh no no, I’m from now. See, there’s this time machine.‘
